COVID-19 Circuit Breaker: What Should You Do If Your Vehicle Is Due For Deregistration?
Once the COVID-19 “Circuit Breaker” campaign starts on 7 April 2020, car owners will have limited options to scrap their vehicles.
To curb the further spread of COVID-19, the Singapore Government has ordered non-essential services to suspend work activities from 7 April to 4 May 2020.
Although transportation and vehicle recovery services are not affected, used car dealers and exporters have been deemed non-essential in this current situation.
But what if your vehicle is due for deregistration during this period? According to LTA, owners will have two additional months to dispose of their deregistered vehicles. It includes owners who have recently deregistered their cars and those with their one-month disposal deadline approaching.
All LTA-authorised scrapyards, Export Processing Zones, and other vehicle exporters will not be open during this period.
