The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has begun trialling road signs and markings for the future, gantry-less ERP 2.0 system, set to be implemented from January 1, 2027.

In a Facebook post, LTA announced that potential road markings for the future ERP 2.0 system are being tested on Bayshore Drive. Photos released alongside the post showed some of the road markings, namely, a blue circle with a white “E”, and a stretch of road painted blue with an accompanying sign reading “ERP Charge Zone”.

Alongside notifications from the on-board unit (OBU), these road markings are meant to alert motorists to ERP charging locations, as the future ERP 2.0 system is satellite-based and will no longer require a physical ERP gantry.

As of January 31, 2026, about 93% (or around 930,000) of Singapore’s total vehicle population has been fitted with an OBU, with the LTA claiming to be on track to complete the OBU installation exercise within the year.

LTA assured motorists that they would not be charged for driving through the testing area, and that the temporary trial markings would be in place for about a month while selected participants give their feedback. LTA also stated that the trial will be progressively expanded to more locations to get more motorists’ feedback ahead of ERP 2.0's implementation in 2027.
