July 2022 COE Results 1st Bidding: Increases Across All Categories Yet Again
In the 1st COE bidding exercise for July 2022, Cat A closed at $78,001, Cat B at $107,800, Cat C at $54,001, Cat D at $10,889 and Cat E at $110,524.
Cat A (Cars up to 1600CC & 97KW) received 900 bids and saw a $3,012 increase from the previous exercise. It closed at $78,001.
Cat B (Cars above 1600CC or 97KW) saw 695 bids and increased by $1,799. It closed at $107,800.
Cat C (Goods Vehicle & Bus) received 160 bids and increased by $990. It closed at $54,001.
Cat D (Motorcycles) had 768 bids in total and saw a $587 increase. It closed today at $10,889.
Lastly, Cat E (Open Category) received 340 bids and saw an increase of $6,124. It closed at $110,524.

A Serious Look At Chinese Cars
It wasn't too long ago that Chinese cars were nothing more than shoddy replicas of what the Europeans, Japanese and Koreans could churn out.
It is this half-past-six approach to car building that allows these manufacturers to retail their vehicles at prices that the rest of the automotive world cannot match. Blatant aping of famous designs led to much chagrin from the established automakers, which had lawyers that were then left even more frustrated when they sued, and lost, to the various Chinese manufacturers in the courts of the People's Republic.
Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but only when intellectual copyright and brand identity isn't at stake.

Road Etiquette As A Cyclist
Cycling on a public road can be a harrowing experience even if you are a seasoned cyclist. This is magnified when your commute happens on a busy road.
All we are really after, is an uneventful commute to and from our destination. In an ideal world, we'd all play nicely with one another, with drivers looking out for cyclists and giving them the appropriate space they need to ride safely, and cyclists having the courtesy to make sure they are not holding up traffic.
But alas, we do not live in this fantasy. Impatient drivers and irresponsible cyclists are aplenty, and it can sometimes be very vexing for both ends - just take a quick look at the various traffic vigilante pages on social media.
