Four-Fold Increase In Bid Deposit Costs For Motorcycle COEsEditors%2 Fimages%2 F1647593419997 1647593419997

The LTA will raise the bid deposit for motorcycle COEs to $800 - up from the current $200. Authorities are hoping that this would “encourage prudent bidding behaviour".

Motorcycle TCOE validity periods will also be dramatically reduced, from the current six months to the revised three. These measures are aimed at ‘cooling’ the current market, with motorcycle COE premiums crossing the $10,000 barrier earlier in the year with no signs of abating.

mReview: Mercedes EQA 250 Edition 1 - EVolved & GLAmped Up!

Editors%2 Fimages%2 F1647591356658 MercStereotypically Mercedes traits are well represented in the EQA - think comfort, quality materials and thoughtful design. It juggles these characteristics whilst also being the most affordable electric vehicle in the German automaker’s catalogue.

Its origins perhaps goes some way into explaining why the EQA is priced as such. This is no bespoke EV, but one that was built off of existing ICE architecture. Save for alterations in the front and rear fascias, most of the bodyshell and the panels are shared with the GLA.

Scrap Versus COE Renewal - When, Why And How?

Editors%2 Fimages%2 F1647593519074 1647593519074Car ownership in Singapore is prohibitively expensive. Revalidated COEs do offer a cost-effective outlet to own a vehicle well into the next decade, but is it always the best option?

There are several key factors to take into account before deciding if you should scrap your car, or renew its COE. Overall condition, mileage and parts availability all play a part in determining if it’s worth it to keep your existing car on the road for another decade.

Fuel Prices Drop Slightly Amidst Increased Global Supply

Editors%2 Fimages%2 F1647590537339 Fuel+ImageYour next fill-up will put less of a dent in your wallet, though prices are still significantly higher as compared to the same period last month. Is it premature to cue the (muted) celebrations?

Whilst the conflict is still ongoing, there has been some progression in the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. Ceasefires also mean a reduction in the demand for energy. A further fuel ‘surplus’ has also been triggered as a direct result of nation-wide lockdowns in China, as they grapple with containing a surge in fresh COVID-19 cases.

Video: Road Markings In Singapore | Auto Driven

All of us have to memorise what each road marking means before getting our driving licence, however we tend to forget many of them after the fact. Worse still, we unknowingly break the law more often than we realise by crossing a line we're not supposed to, or park at a spot that's illegal. Break the law no more as we refresh your noodles with the meanings behind some of the most common road markings in Singapore!

She Drives - A Motorist Initiative

Editors%2 Fimages%2 F1647587744181 She+DrivesThere has never been a more pressing time for gender equality. Motorist cares - we know the importance of unity and fairness in the face of chaos that we are living through today.

Which is why, in conjunction with International Women’s Day, we are aiming to empower the women amongst us, helping to break the cycle of negative female stereotypes in an automotive context.

How often do you actually come across snide remarks questioning a woman’s ability behind the wheel? There’s also a belief that their mechanical ineptitude, combined with the supposed incapabilities whilst driving, can result in a less safe driving experience overall.

Do download the Motorist app (link here) if you haven’t already. You can then proceed to add your vehicle to your profile to enjoy a Car Wash (U.P $32) on the house! Offer is valid from now till 31 March 2022.
