I have already entered into an agreement with a dealer to purchase a new car. How would I know if I will get to enjoy the rebate or be imposed with a surcharge under the Vehicular Emissions Scheme (VES)? Will I get a refund if my car falls into the incentive band?

The rebates and surcharges under the VES will take effect from 1 January 2018, to give consumers and the motor industry time to adjust to the new scheme.
As the purchase agreement between car buyers and motor dealers are private agreements, car buyers are advised to approach their motor dealers directly to clarify the terms and conditions, including the refund policy, for their agreements.
