mReview: AVATR 11 – A New Name For Progress

The AVATR 11 is futuristic in both aesthetics and functionality, with unique design elements and top-tier features throughout the car.
What’s Great
- Eye-catching aesthetics that make the AVATR 11 stand out from other cars on the road.
- 240kW DC fast charging capability is a welcome inclusion and makes the ownership experience more convenient.
- The 11's equipment list is extensive and generous, with features like zero-gravity front seats with ventilation and massage, Nappa leather upholstery, and a 25-speaker Meridian sound system all included as standard.
What’s Good
- A healthy 308hp and 350Nm of torque provide a decent amount of grunt, while the 90kWh battery in this Standard Range variant provides up to 475km of range on a full charge.
- The rear seats are cushy, and there's loads of foot room thanks to the flat floor.
- A very quiet, sedate ride makes driving the 11 a smooth and comfortable affair.
What’s Not Great
- The AVATR 11 is one of the more appliance-like cars; it's technically proficient and perfectly capable on paper and will satisfy many a buyer, but enthusiasts may struggle to build a connection with it.
- The AVATR 11 is pronounced as "one-one", which introduces lots of confusion from people who (validly) assume the car is called the "AVATR Eleven".
The AVATR 11 comes standard with Nappa leather upholstery across the seats and steering wheel. The dashboard of the 11 is also laid out in this "Vortex" shape, housing the 10.25-inch passenger screen and digital gauge cluster.
The 11's rear end is one of the most distinctive tail sections on the market, with a tiny rear window that sits at the tippy top of a funky-looking derrière.
The rear seats are quite reclined, which makes for relaxed seating, though I can't say I'm too keen on the gold accents and maroon/brown/taupe interior colour.
While this Standard Range variant can get up to 475km on a full charge from its 90kWh battery, a Long Range variant is available for an extra $20k or so with a much larger 116kWh battery and up to 600km of range.
The centrepiece of the "Vortex" dashboard is this design element, which is part of the 25-speaker Meridian sound system that's ringed in ambient lighting strips. A shame it's mostly obstructed from view by the main 15.6-inch infotainment screen.
While boot space is actually fairly generous at 490 litres, the boot opening is not that large due to the shape of the 11's rear, which may make loading larger items a bit more of a Tetris-y situation.
The 11's active rear spoiler automatically deploys at higher speeds to create some downforce, but retracts at slower speeds to retain the 11's body lines.
With both front seats being of the zero-gravity variety, the car offers different scenarios, like Rest or Fireplace, to give you tailored experiences for optimised relaxation.
