July 2025 COE Results 1st Bidding: The COE snake woke up with a jolt after its three-week snooze, with Cat A revving above $100k once again and the other Categories costing more than before

Motorist asked several motor traders for their take on these COE results and the consensus was that the costlier premiums were not surprising.
Anthony Teo, managing director of Vantage Automotive which represents BYD and DENZA in Singapore, told Motorist: “Usually, after three weeks of order collection, COE premiums will rise due to more bids received.”
Jason Lim, managing director of BMW authorised dealer Eurokars Auto, added: “Yes, quite expected.”
A Leng Kee motor belt general manager agreed that the quota premiums were “Pretty much expected.”
Ernest Tan, deputy CEO of Vincar Group which retails Aion, GAC and Proton in Singapore, commented: “Business as usual.”
Nicholas Wong, chief executive officer of Honda authorised agent Kah Motor, told Motorist: “More booking time means more orders, equals higher prices, plus aggressive dealers wanting to put their EVs on the road.”
Soh Ming, managing director of Dongfeng Singapore, felt that Category A COE is “back to the normal $100k range.”
Ng Choon Wee, commercial director of Komoco Motors which handles Hyundai, chimed in: “It’s kind of business as usual, but it’s irrational bidding, with Cat A crossing the $100k mark.”
