Audi launches all-new Q3 SUV with an electrified powertrain and a total makeover

The all-new Audi Q3 has been given a total makeover inside and out, thrusting the compact SUV firmly into the highly contested segment. 

The third-generation Audi Q3 is the latest version of the popular premium compact SUV to come from the German brand. It features a new exterior design with slim Matrix LED headlights and optional OLED taillights, the first time this level of lighting technology has been made available in Audi’s compact segment. 

The interior has also been restyled for the third-gen Q3 with a new steering wheel control unit allowing for more storage space in the centre console, a new user experience, and a better sense of space. 

For the first time, the steering wheel control unit also integrates two new steering column levers. The right lever now functions as the gear selector while the left lever houses the light and wiper controls. 

Also present on the third-gen Q3 is a new damper system for improved comfort and driving dynamics. The top-spec suspension option has two-valve damper control which continuously reacts to the characteristics of the road surface and the current driving situation, even taking into account parameters such as steering, braking, and acceleration. The ideal damping is calculated for each wheel in a fraction of a second and adjusted on the shock absorbers.

In line with the move towards smart driving, the Q3 will also feature enhanced driver assistance and safety features like adaptive cruise control with lane change assist. For the first time, the Q3 also has an emergency assistant that can take over command of the vehicle if the driver is non-responsive, independently driving the car to the shoulder and calling the emergency services.

The Q3 will feature a variety of powertrain options with a mild-hybrid, 147hp 4-cylinder as the entry-level variant and a 261hp Quattro variant as the range-topper. A plug-in hybrid version with 268hp and a 25.7kWh battery is also available and allows for up to 120km of electric-only driving.
