Trans Eurokars Mazda has provided the national sports association for swimming with two MX-30 electric vehicles for official duties and will supply another 23 new Mazdas as event cars for the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup to be hosted by Singapore in October 2024.

The fleet of Mazda cars ferrying athletes and officials at the international swimming championship in Singapore will be a mix of CX-5 SUVs, 3 sedans and 6 sedans. Under an LTA scheme for such vehicles used to support national-level events, these Mazdas can be sold (or pre-sold) as new units with first-owner registration after they complete their stint as special event cars.

The pair of MX-30s under this two-year partnership sport custom livery with the Singapore Aquatics (SAQ) logo and the car brand’s “Greater Journeys with Mazda” tagline.

These are not uncharted waters for the car company, which already dived into supporting aquatics by sponsoring the hole-in-one prize at SAQ’s fundraiser earlier this year and donating $25,000 at SAQ’s 85th anniversary gala dinner.

Mazda’s automotive contribution to world-class swimming on our island will continue into July and August next year, when Singapore becomes the first Southeast Asian country to host the World Aquatics Championships. The flagship aquatic event features swimming, artistic swimming, open water swimming, diving, high diving and water polo, and is expected to attract more than 2,000 competitors from over 190 countries.

Chong Kah Wei, managing director of Trans Eurokars Mazda, said: “We believe in doing our part for society and with this support, we hope to inspire all swimmers to pursue their dreams. The discipline required in swimming is similar to Mazda’s brand philosophy of embracing challenges and being focused on consistent improvements.”

Associate Professor Kenneth Goh, secretary general of SAQ, said: “Being associated with a global brand like Mazda speaks volumes of the appeal of aquatics and the positive impact it can have for Mazda, our aquatics disciplines,  and the general public.”
