This little city of used cars at The Grandstand Car Mall was our turf

The Grandstand Car Mall at 210 Turf Club Road in Bukit Timah is on its final lap and will make way for redevelopment, including future housing and a new MRT station.

The underground train station to be built at the Turf City location will be under phase two of the Cross Island Line (CRL), which will add six more stations to the 12 slated for CRL phase one.  

Turf City opened for business in 1999 as a family-friendly lifestyle destination repurposed from the historical Bukit Timah horse racing course, but with interim uses based on the URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) Master Plan 1998, which safeguarded the brownfield site for future residential plans. 

One Drive Automobile will move from The Grandstand Car Mall to Carros Centre.

After almost 25 years, the thriving little city of shops, eateries, childcare centres, services and recreation facilities will be closed for redevelopment when its twice-extended lease under SLA (Singapore Land Authority) finally ends in December 2023.

The sprawling complex includes The Grandstand Car Mall, which had one of Singapore’s widest selections of pre-owned cars, numbering nearly 4,000 vehicles and 150 dealer lots. 

ST Auto will move from The Grandstand Car Mall to Automobile Megamart.

Among the car-dealer tenants moving out from The Grandstand Car Mall are One Drive Automobile, ST Auto and Cloud Carz. 

Cloud Carz has been operating in The Grandstand Car Mall since 2019 and will move to Carros Centre. Kenny Huang, sales manager for Cloud Carz, told Motorist that he will miss his neighbours and the Bukit Timah location. 

Another tenant, Jayden Chin, director of One Drive Automobile which has been in The Grandstand Car Mall for three years, told Motorist that he will miss the free parking and the Turf Club Road location. 

Cloud Carz will move from The Grandstand Car Mall to Carros Centre.
