August 2018 COE Results: Car Premiums on the Upswing

COE premiums for cars continue to rise for latest bidding exercise in August 2018. On the other hand, Goods vehicles, buses and motorcycles see a slight drop in COE prices.

In the latest bidding exercise for August 2018, the COE premiums for Cat A (Cars up to 1600CC & 97KW) vehicles went up by S$1,099 – from $32,699 to $33,798.

Cat B (Cars above 1600CC or 97KW) also saw an increase in prices, from $32,551 to $34,381 – a substantial addition of $1,830 from the last exercise.

For Cat C (Goods vehicles & buses), COE premiums saw a slight drop of $500 – from $30,889 to $30,389.

Similarly, Cat D (Motorcycles) premiums also saw a decline, going from $6,189 to $5,514 – a $675 drop from the previous exercise.

Last but not least, Cat E (Open category) also experienced a slight increase in premiums. It rose by $611, from $32,809 to $33,420.

As highlighted in a previous article, there will be an increase in the monthly COE quota from August to October 2018. It might influence COE premiums for the coming months, causing them to rise even further. Only time will tell.
