Hi, I have just bought and collected an used car from a dealer yesterday and hours after collecting the car I discovered there is a loud pitch sound during braking. I checked with the workshop and was told that it’s due to the brake rotors. I highlighted it to the car dealer and he said it will not be covered as it’s under wear and tear. I understand that the lemon law does not cover for wear and tear, but the fact is that I have just collected the car for a few hours and discovered the defect, shouldn’t the car dealer honour it and fix it for me? Do I have a case if I file a claim against the car dealer? Please kindly advise, thank you.

Hi Stephen Sim, thank you for your message. Loud pitch sound when braking definitely belongs to the wear & tear category. However, it will still boil down to what is stated in your sales and purchase agreement. You may clarify it with your dealer again, otherwise, I suggest for you to file a report with CASE and let them sort it out for you.
