Hyundai's new fourth-generation Tucson represents its vision for progressive design - eco-focused power and innovative technologies.

The all-new Tucson is an important launch for Hyundai, as the car is one of the most popular models in its current lineup, with more than 7 million units sold since its launch in 2004.

An evolution of its predecessor, the fourth-generation Tucson represents a revolution for Hyundai in design terms. It is the first fully-changed Hyundai SUV to be developed according to the company’s new “Sensuous Sportiness” design identity.

This direction is characterised by the harmony between four fundamental elements: proportion, architecture, styling and technology. Its purpose is to bring a sensuous and emotional touch to Hyundai vehicles.

Revolutionary SUV Design

Hyundai’s designers developed the all-new Tucson with a process known as “parametric dynamics”, utilising lines, faces, angles and shapes created through digital data to create bold design aesthetics. As a result, prominent geometric patterns known as “parametric jewels” appear throughout the SUV’s design.

The most prominent display of these parametric jewels is on the vehicle’s front grille, where Parametric Hidden Lights provide a strong first impression alongside the signature LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), which are seamlessly integrated into the grille.

Chiselled surfaces along the sides create a striking contrast between a sleek silhouette and masculine wedge. The muscular form seamlessly merges into angular wheel arches, where alloy wheels provide a dynamic stance.

The Tucson features aerodynamic wheels, with 18-inch alloys available on the Turbo variant and 19-inch alloys on the Hybrid variant. The tyre choices were developed in close cooperation with top-tier tyre manufacturers Continental and Michelin, with special attention given to aspects such as comfort, road noise isolation and handling performance.

On the rear, wide tail lamps with parametric hidden light details continue the design theme. The car’s rear bumper also integrates parametric pattern details with a three-dimensional effect. It is the first Hyundai model to apply hidden rear wipers, which sit under the spoiler.

The Tucson will be offered in a total of eight exterior colours, of which two are new. These colours are "Shimmering Silver" and "Amazon Gray".

Interior

Space, technology and information intersect harmoniously in the all-new Tucson's sophisticated and spacious interior.

For the first time in a Hyundai vehicle, Multi-Air Mode technology consisting of a combination of direct and indirect air vents for air conditioning and heating help to create calmer airflow throughout the cabin.

When this mode is activated, the air is dispersed to the newly added multi-air slots in the front, in addition to the normal air vents. This mode can be switched on and off by the driver.

Three-zone climate control now caters to passengers in the rear seats in addition to occupants in the front of the vehicle. Ventilated seats in the front and heated seats in the front and rear provide further comfort.

With a longer wheelbase, rear passengers can enjoy 80mm of additional legroom. This has been achieved for both the hybrid and internal combustion engine models, thanks to the clever placement of the battery underneath the rear passenger seats.

The seamless integration of state-of-the-art technology provides drivers with an advanced and fully customisable digital experience.

These includes a fully digital configurable dual cockpit, which consists of a new 10.25-inch open digital cluster and an 8-inch touch infotainment screen, which fills the centre of the vehicle.

Heat, ventilation and air conditioning functions are controlled via touch, making it the first Hyundai model to feature a full touchscreen console.

Other infotainment features on the all-new Tucson include a wireless charging pad in the centre console, and a total of four front and rear USB ports. Occupants can also enjoy pleasant ambient mood lightings, which are positioned in the two side pockets of the centre fascia, in the wireless charging pad and in the door map pockets.

Additionally, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow customers to mirror the functionality of their iOS and Android smartphones in a simplified and convenient manner.

Boot space has also been increased, offering up to 539 litres with the seats up and up to 1,860 litres with the seats folded. For improved convenience, the rear seats of the all-new Tucson can now be folded in a 40:20:40 ratio.

Remote Folding further allows the seats to be folded at a distance. The folding levers are located on the sidewalls of the boot.

SmartSense Safety Features

With best-in-class advanced driver-assistance systems and a wide-ranging active safety package, the all-new Tucson delivers a peace of mind.

The car is outfitted with an enhanced seven-airbag system, which features a new first-row centre side airbag. This prevents front-row passengers from colliding with one another in the case of a collision, minimising the risk of serious injuries.

When the deployment of the airbags is triggered by a front or side impact, Multi-Collision Braking automatically applies emergency brakes to reduce the risk of secondary, or multiple, collisions.

The Tucson is also equipped with the latest Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driving assistance features for even more assurance. The list of safety features include:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with Junction Turning
  • Lane Following Assist (LFA)
  • Blind-spot Collision Warning (BCW)
  • Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Warning (BCA)
  • Safe Exit Warning (SEW)
  • Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)
  • Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA)
  • Rear Cross-traffic Collision-Avoidance Warning (RCCW)
  • Rear Cross-traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)
  • Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
Powertrain

Two powertrain options for the Tucson will be available in Singapore.

The standard 1.6-litre T-GDI Smartstream engine will produce an estimated 180 PS, with 195 lb-ft of torque. The car will have a top speed of 201km/h, and it can perform 0-100km/h in 8.8 seconds. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT).

The 1.6 T-GDI Smartstream engine features the world’s first Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology that manages valve opening duration for optimal power, efficiency and emissions. This increases performance by 4% and fuel efficiency by 5% while decreasing emissions by 12%.

For even more performance and reduced emissions, customers can opt for the more powerful 230 PS hybrid powertrain with 259 lb-ft of torque. It combines the instant torque of a 44.2 kW electric motor with the power output of the 1.6 T-GDI engine. The system is paired with a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery and will be available with a six-speed automatic transmission (6AT).

Wider flexibility is offered by the new Electronic Controlled Suspension’s (ECS) adaptive damping technology. For daily commuting in Normal or Eco mode. the ECS automatically and continuously controls the vehicle’s suspension to maximise driving comfort and performance. This is achieved by taking into account driving conditions such as speed, road surfaces, cornering, stopping requirements and acceleration.

When driving in Sport mode, Tucson drivers can enjoy an extra level of responsiveness and control with noticeable changes such as sharper steering.
