2021 has only just begun, but Mazda is already making us beam with excitement for 2022 with the rumoured release of its new Mazda 6.
Many car publications are starting to label Mazda as the new BMW, and it’s not hard to see why.
With premium interiors that boast designs, materials, and far higher standards of build quality compared to their rivals, Mazda is already giving premium brands a run for their money.
Coupled with a heavy focus on good driving dynamics, one can see how the Mazda formula is taking a page out of BMW’s heydays.
If Car and Driver and Japanese publication BestCarWeb are to be believed, the upcoming Mazda 6 will bring the Far-Eastern brand one step closer to becoming the new BMW.

Rumours are that Mazda’s upcoming inline-six engine will be debuted on the next Mazda 6 that is expected to be released in 2022. The D-segment sedan will also move to a rear-wheel-drive configuration.
A longitudinal inline-six engine and rear-wheel drive. Sounds familiar? If you’re craving for that iconic BMW powertrain configuration found in the E34 and E39 generation BMW 5-Series, it seems like the 2022 Mazda 6 will hearken back to those good old days of Sheer Driving Pleasure.
