Hyundai Teases the IONIQ 5 CUV; Launch Expected in February 2021

The first model in Hyundai's IONIQ dedicated BEV lineup brand is expected to go from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
Hyundai Motor Company today unveiled the first teaser image of the highly anticipated IONIQ 5 midsize CUV, the first model in its IONIQ dedicated Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) lineup brand.
The IONIQ 5 will be the first vehicle mated with Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), an innovative system made exclusively for next-generation battery-electric Hyundai vehicles.
According to leaked details from Hyundai's Austrian website, the IONIQ 5 is expected to have 313hp and a 5.2 second 0-100km/h timing, and about 450km of range on a WLTP cycle.

Hyundai has also made it a point to state that the IONIQ 5's distinctive and innovative design provides a unique experience that can only be enjoyed in dedicated BEVs, suggesting a fundamental shift in design approach.
SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Centre has claimed that “beginning with IONIQ 5, our dedicated BEV lineup brand will redefine the relationship between people and their cars, establishing a new standard against which all BEV design experiences will be measured.”
Hyundai Motor's press release suggests that the IONIQ 5 will introduce a fundamental shift in the technologies that its electric products are capable of, such as advanced mobility solutions.

The IONIQ 5 is capable of ultra-fast charging capability that enables it to be charged up from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, and drive more than 100km with only a 5-minute charge (WLTP Standard).
IONIQ 5 will debut on a virtual world premiere event in February 2021.
