Temasek Polytechnic and Volt Auto jointly launch an EV Academy to develop Singapore’s next-generation electric mobility workforce

Temasek Polytechnic and Volt Auto jointly establish an EV Academy to equip students and working professionals with practical, industry-relevant electric vehicle skills.

Volt Auto, the exclusive distributor of Dongfeng passenger vehicles in Singapore, combines its strong industry expertise with Temasek Polytechnic’s (TP) expertise in applied learning to strengthen Singapore’s pipeline of EV-ready talent while supporting workforce transformation and innovation in the electric mobility sector.

As part of the partnership, Volt Auto will contribute a Dongfeng VIGO electric SUV and its proprietary EV diagnostic kits for use as training equipment within the Academy, giving students hands-on experience with contemporary technologies used in the electric vehicle industry.

The Academy will also create pathways for students to gain practical industry exposure through structured On-the-Job Training (OJT), job shadowing, and internship opportunities across Volt Auto’s network of partners. 

Some emerging career pathways the Academy will prepare students for include EV Consultants, Pre-Delivery Inspectors, EV Detailing Specialists, and Accident Service Advisors. 

Training at the Temasek Polytechnic-Volt Auto EV Academy is expected to commence from the 2026 October semester, with a bespoke curriculum designed to keep pace with industry developments and benefit both full-time diploma students and adult learners.

This is about training more mechanics while also strengthening the entire ecosystem at one go”, said Mr Soh Ming, Founder and CEO of Volt Auto.
