mReview: Zeekr 009 Flagship AWD – The Cathedral Of Comfort

The Zeekr 009 is a cathedral on wheels, the home parish of Saint Shiokness, patron saint of comfort.
What’s Great
- The passenger experience, especially in the middle row, is better than anything else this side of a Rolls-Royce.
- The Yamaha sound system is one of the best in the business.
- A creamy drive that's also spookily quiet around town.
What’s Good
- The gigantic 116kWh battery provides loads of range, up to 582km on a full charge, but at the expense of weight.
- 600hp and 693Nm is great for giving the 009 its effortless drive, but a 2.9-ton vehicle going from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds has the potential to be a real danger. There are other more reasonable variants available, though.
What’s Not Great
- The brakes, both regenerative and physical, could be stronger, especially for a car this large, heavy, and fast.
- A maximum charging rate of 150kW is lacking a little when compared to its competitors.
The 009 is a stately shuttle at over 5.2 metres in length and over 2 metres wide, perfect for maintaining a sense of occasion and importance when ferrying VIPs.
The 009's front cabin has a lovely mix of premium materials that feel very nice indeed. The infotainment system is also comprehensive, lag-free, and easy to navigate.
Don't let the 009's size fool you, this giant can be less-than-gentle, with dual motors, 603hp, and nearly 700Nm of torque readily available to get your VIPs to their meetings and conferences in no time at all.
The left seat in the second row is the best seat in the house. While both captain's chairs can do the full dentist chair movement and are ventilated, heated, and massaging, only the left one is able to enjoy the added comfort of the drop-down footrest that automatically lowers from the back of the front passenger seat.
To keep your occupants entertained, a 17-inch, roof-mounted, OLED TV is available for web browsing, game playing, or even Zoom calling.
With its pantheon-style front fascia and those wonderfully elaborate 20-inch rims, the 009 would look at home in any towkay's garage.
The seats in the 009 are arranged in a 2-2-2 layout, with a third row that's usable for fully-grown adults, instead of just clients you don't like very much. Each third-row occupant also gets air-con vents, cup-holders, and USB-C ports.
With the third row up, the 009 is able to swallow up to 574 litres of luggage, though this increases dramatically to 2,979 litres once the seats are folded away.
The electric sliding doors of the 009 are adorned on the inside with this touch-sensitive panel that can be swiped between a clock and your air-con controls.
