March 2026 COE Results 2nd Bidding: The COE horse galloped at a steady pace, with minor price acceleration in all Categories except motorbikes’ Cat D, which shot up by 11 percent
In the second COE bidding exercise of March 2026, Cat A closed at $111,890; Cat B closed at $115,568; Cat C closed at $78,000; Cat D closed at $9,589; while Cat E closed at $118,119.
Cat A (car up to 1600cc & 130bhp, and EV with up to 110kW) received 1,895 bids for 1,264 COEs and its premium climbed by $3,670. Category A COE closed at $111,890.
Cat B (car above 1600cc or 130bhp, and EV with more than 110kW) received 1,185 bids for 812 COEs and its premium climbed by $1,566. Category B COE closed at $115,568.
Cat C (goods vehicle and bus) received 438 bids for 290 COEs and its premium increased by $2,000. Category C COE closed at exactly $78,000.
Cat D (motorcycle) received 726 bids for 546 COEs and its premium increased by $987. Category D COE closed at $9,589.
Lastly, Cat E (all vehicles except motorcycle) received 422 bids for 246 COEs and climbed by $3,229. Category E COE closed at $118,119.
The Motorist editor visited the Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar and then asked some motor traders for their predictions on how the COE premiums might move in the next bidding round, which is three weeks away on April 6-8.
Up seems to be the likely direction.
Komoco Motors Hyundai commercial director, Ng Choon Wee, said: “Demand stays strong and I’m expecting premiums to continue climbing, especially for Cat A. Category E is higher than Category B, which could signal that Cat B will be higher than $118k.”
Kah Motor Honda chief executive, Nicholas Wong, said: “Speculators are expecting the next COE to go up, due to the longer selling time till the next bid. As we can see from this round, there is already a lot of anticipation.”
Premium Automobiles (Zeekr, Xpeng, DEEPAL and AVATR) managing director, Lee Hoe Lone, said: “I think prices will edge up further with the three weeks’ break.”
Eurokars EV (MG and IM Motors) managing director, Raymond Ng, concurred: “A three-week break before the next COE bidding means there is 50 percent more time to collect new car orders. This is usually a key contributor to support and push COE premiums higher.”
Eurokars managing director for BMW and MINI, Jason Lim, added: “Three weeks, usually COE will go up, that’s the tradition.”
Volvo Car Singapore managing director, Corinne Chua, said: “I think prices will continue to climb with one more week of selling. Cat A will go up even more, with more EVs in this category and more attention around EVs due to the rising oil prices and PARF change.”
Not everyone was in the same “up” camp, though.
Vantage Automotive (BYD and DENZA) managing director, Anthony Teo, told us: “I think the COE premiums will be around the same or maybe, hopefully, drop in the next round.”
Vincar (GAC, Aion and Hyptec) product consultant, Vincent Ng, said: “It looks like the trend will be similar. Motor traders will raise prices and COE premiums will stay at this level.”
