Audi has unveiled the R26 concept, a preview of what Audi’s 2026 Formula One racecar could look like.
After years of will-they-won’t-they teasing, Audi will finally be joining the Formula One grid next season, taking over operations of the existing Sauber F1 team. The recently unveiled R26 Concept is a first look at what Audi’s 2026 racing machine could look like ahead of the real car’s reveal in January next year.
The R26 Concept spearheads Audi’s new brand identity, featuring minimalist graphic surfaces defined by precise geometric cuts that are integrated seamlessly with the racing car’s geometry. The colour palette for the car utilises titanium, carbon black, and the newly introduced Audi red. As part of this new visual identity, Audi will also use red rings, specially chosen to underscore its presence in Formula One.
At the helm of the Audi F1 project are the highly experienced duo of Mattia Binotto, former team principal of Ferrari, and Jonathan Wheatley, former sporting director at Red Bull Racing. In the cockpit, Audi has enlisted Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto as their drivers of choice for the 2026 season.
The Audi F1 Team will make its full public debut at the official team launch in January 2026. The launch will precede the pre-season testing period, allowing the team to get to grips with their brand-new racecar ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne from March 6 to 8, 2026.
