Heavy traffic is expected at the Singapore-Malaysia land checkpoints during the September school holidays from 5 to 15 September.

Travellers should expect longer waiting times to clear immigration at both the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints during the September school holidays from Friday, 5 September, to Monday, 15 September 2025.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) advised travellers to check the traffic situation at the land checkpoints before embarking on their journey.

Travellers are also advised to use the QR codes generated from the MyICA mobile app for more convenient passport-less immigration clearance. However, they will still need to bring their passports, as they may be required overseas.

ICA added that nearly two million travellers crossed the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints during the recent National Day weekend, with traveller volume peaking at over 558,000 on 8 August. Those travelling by car had to wait up to three hours for immigration clearance during peak periods, due to traffic tailback from Malaysia.

ICA also reminded travellers to ensure that their passports have at least six months’ validity to avoid being denied entry into Malaysia and to refrain from queue-cutting as it can cause severe congestion and compromise the safety of other motorists. Errant motorists caught queue-cutting will be made to turn back and re-queue.

The authority added, “We seek travellers’ understanding to cooperate with ICA officers, observe traffic rules, and maintain discipline. ICA will not hesitate to take stern action against travellers who do not comply with officers’ instructions and commit offences at the checkpoints.”

Travellers can also use the Checkpoint feature on the Motorist app to stay up to date with live traffic feeds, estimated travelling times, and fuel check warnings.
