Motorist 10 Most Popular Road Block Locations In Singapore 2019
These 10 locations in Singapore saw the highest number of road blocks in 2019. This infographic was created using data from the Motorist App.

Road blocks, although a pain to drivers, are necessary to keep our roads safe from drink-drivers. The Traffic Police also conduct road blocks to deter and detect other forms of crimes, as well as check for illegal vehicle modifications.

In the above infographic, we highlight the 10 most popular road block locations in Singapore. Extracted from the Motorist App, our data is completely user-generated. We also extracted the data between 10pm to 6am, as the likelihood of road blocks occurring at those timings are much higher.

Please bear in mind that avoiding a road block is a serious offence in the eyes of the law—in fact, offenders may be fined up to S$5,000, and/or jailed for up to 12 months.

We also urge drivers to refrain from drink-driving. If you have consumed alcohol, please be responsible by taking a taxi or engaging a valet service to send you home.

For those unaware, the Singapore government has passed new laws to impose harsher punishment for drink-drivers.

First time offenders face a fine between $2,000 and $10,000 and/or up to 1 year’s jail, while repeat offenders face fines between $5,000 and $20,000 and up to 2 years’ jail.

Offenders will also be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence from 2 to 5 years.

With the year coming to a close, we would like to thank every motorist out there for making 2019 memorable! With your help, we can make our roads much safer and enjoyable in 2020! From all of us at Motorist, have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
