Chinese electric carmaker NIO has signed an agreement with Wearnes Automotive to enter the market in 2026.

Wearnes Automotive will be the exclusive distributor for the Chinese brand, famous for cars like the record-breaking EP9, with retail operations and aftersales support beginning in the first quarter of 2026.

This will not be the first time NIO will be in Singapore, though, with a pop-up car display in 2022 in the CBD showcasing the EP9 supercar (then the fastest electric car in the world) and the ES8 SUV. However, this will be the first time a NIO vehicle is available for sale here.

The first car to be launched will be the Firefly, a “lifestyle hatch”, the first right-hand drive model available from NIO. Singapore will be the first country in Southeast Asia to welcome the right-hand drive NIOs as part of their global right-hand drive launch strategy.

In addition to the Firefly hatchback, Wearnes and NIO will evaluate the implementation of NIO’s battery-swap technology and the iconic NIO House concept.

More details on product and rollout plans for this new partnership will be shared in the months to come.
