Na Oh, the new restaurant concept at 2 Bulim Avenue, is a collaboration between HMGICS (Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore) and Corey Lee, the first Korean chef to earn three Michelin stars.

The restaurant’s name means “moving from inside out” in Korean. Located on the third level of the seven-storey HMGICS building, Na Oh is the San Francisco-based celebrity chef’s first project in Southeast Asia.

It is also arguably the first of its kind in the culinary paradise of Singapore, being a classy eatery in an industrial area where basic canteens and homely kopi tiams are the norm.

As Corey Lee put it: “I hope to bring a fresh and new option for Korean cuisine to Singapore, a country renowned for its food lovers. While Na Oh will be a casual family restaurant, we will be serving the same quality products and technical preparations usually reserved for fine dining.”

Said preparations include sourcing ingredients directly from the HMGICS vertical smart farm, where edible crops are grown and harvested by Hyundai’s in-house team of green fingers and white robots.

The menu is said to feature exquisite hansik (Korean-style) cuisine calibrated for the modern palate and drawing from Korean traditions. The “heart and Seoul” experience by Na Oh is slated to include cultural insights beyond food and drink, through as yet unannounced collaborations with South Korea’s master artisans.

Na Oh is in HMGICS at 2 Bulim Avenue in Jurong Innovation District and will open to the public in June 2024.
