October 2021 COE Results 2nd Bidding: Premiums Rise Across Every Category, Cat B and E Reach 7-Year High
In the 2nd COE bidding exercise for October 2021, Cat A closed at $52,709, Cat B at $80,210, Cat C at $40,501, Cat D at $9,310, and Cat E at $85,000.
Cat A (Cars up to 1600CC & 97KW) received 1,304 bids and saw a $5,708 increase from the previous exercise. It closed at $52,709
Cat B (Cars above 1600CC or 97KW) saw 1,240 bids and went up by $10,010. It closed at $80,210, its highest since April 2014 when it closed at $84,504.
Cat C (Goods Vehicle & Bus) received 252 bids and went up by $1,611. It closed at $40,501.
Cat D (Motorcycles) had 597 bids in total and saw an increase of $258. It closed today at $9,310.
Lastly, Cat E (Open Category) received 391 bids and shot up by $12,244. It closed at $85,000. The last time it crossed this amount was in November 2013, when it closed at $89,001.
Could this surge in premiums be caused by the reduced COE quota from November 2021 to January 2022?
