After installing and activating the RFID, what should I do next? Do I need to link it to my TNG account? According to the website, I need the 24-digit TNG RFID Tag number to activate or link it, but I can't find this number on my packaging. Could you advise on how to proceed?

Hi Daphne! Thanks for your question! Here's how to register and activate your TNG RFID Tag:

1. Tap the Toll icon on the home screen and select RFID.

2. Click the "Activate RFID Tag" button.

3. Fill in your account details.

4. Register your vehicle.

5. Enter the 24-digit RFID Tag number or scan the barcode on the TNG RFID Tag packaging.

6. Enter the OTP code.

Hi Katherine,

What you mentioned is the Malaysian vehicles' Touch and Go RFID, which is used by Malaysian motorists and is different from the foreign vehicles' VEP RFID issued to Singaporean vehicle owners. i.e. If you live in Malaysia and own a locally registered vehicle, you order the RFID from T&G and self activate, link it to the T&G eWallet via the T&G app to use it to make contactless payment for toll charges at toll gantries. It doesn't have other essential functions.

The foreign vehicles' VEP RFID is set up differently and is used for additional functions. Other than being used for making contactless payment like the Malaysian T&G RFID. It is a "permit" (VEP) for the tagged vehicle to enter Malaysia. It is also for the Malaysian authorities to monitor foreign vehicles travelling in and out of the country. They can use it to enforce traffic violation summonses at the country's exit points, track vehicle thefts, etc.

Hence, I'll make a clear distinction between the two:-

1. For Malaysian Vehicles - T&G RFID

2. For Singaporean Vehicles - VEP RFID (T&G linked)

However, the foreign vehicles' VEP RFID that Singaporean vehicle owners received does not come with a 24 characters tag number as compared to the Malaysian T&G RFID. So it cannot be self activated and link via the T&G eWallet app. It has to be linked by the issuer of the of the VEP RFID. It is done after you have attached your VEP RFID to your vehicle during the final process of your application. They will then activate your VEP RFID and make the link to your T&G account.

In order for the whole process to go smoothly, you should apply for a T&G eWallet account at the same time when you first apply for the VEP RFID and ensure that your NRIC number is in your T&G eWallet account. Otherwise, you VEP RFID issuer will have problem making the link.

You can check your NRIC number in the T&G eWallet account by making enquiry to the "Chat now" tab in the Home page of your T&G eWallet app. Type "Live agent" to get a real person you can chat with. Otherwise you'll chat with a chatbot by default. The agent will help you to put your NRIC number in if required. You'll need to send screenshots of your passport and NRIC's front and back for verification.

Note: You are recommended to make this check with T&G eWallet as soon as the app is functioning. Because in the T&G eWallet app it only shows your passport details in the profile page. NRIC details are not shown even if it is already in their system.

Hope it helps.
