Singapore to host the 2026 MotoGP season launch event
MotoGP will kickstart its 2026 season with a launch event in Singapore in February next year.
Singapore will welcome the top class of motorcycle racing from 6 to 7 February 2026, not in a racing capacity, but as the host city for the global launch event of the 2026 MotoGP season, according to a report from Autosport.
The Singapore event would be the second global launch for MotoGP, after the inaugural event earlier this year in Bangkok. The 2026 event will also be the first ceremony under the leadership of Formula One Group owners Liberty Media, who recently acquired Dorna, the commercial rights holder for MotoGP.

Earlier this year, Liberty Media also organised a similarly large-scale event in London for the launch of the 2025 Formula One season.
Dorna and the 11 MotoGP teams selected Singapore as the host city for the 2026 season launch, beating out Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, which were the other two cities up for consideration.
MotoGP is the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, with 22 riders from 11 teams vying to be crowned world champion. The 2026 season will see the riders duking it out at 22 grands prix across five continents.
Choosing Singapore as the launch venue has also affected the pre-season testing calendar for 2026, with the first official test slated to take place from 2 to 4 February at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, a short road trip away from Singapore.
While the venue and date for the second preseason test are yet to be confirmed, the option is open to head to the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, where the first MotoGP round is slated to take place on 1 March.
The new BMW M5 Touring MotoGP Safety Car was also unveiled in Bangkok this year.
