A surge in travellers is expected at both Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints as Singaporeans make their way to Malaysia for Singapore's SG60 National Day weekend. According to Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), heavy traffic and long waiting times are expected from 8 August Friday to 10 August Sunday.

In a statement released on 5 August 2025, ICA advised all travellers to check traffic conditions before beginning their journey. Travellers are also encouraged to use cross-border bus services to avoid delays caused by private-vehicle congestion.

To ensure smoother clearance, ICA urged motorists to cooperate with officers, follow traffic regulations, and maintain lane discipline.

Cross-border travel hit new record in June 2025

ICA also revealed that traveller numbers have surged to historic highs. During the 2025 June school holidays (29 May to 1 July), more than 578,000 people crossed the land checkpoints on 20 June alone, surpassing the previous record of 562,000 set on 20 December 2024.

The average number of daily crossings in June 2025 was nearly 10 percent higher than the same period last year, pointing to growing demand for land travel between Singapore and Malaysia.
