The Citroën e-Dispatch Electric is More Than Just an Appliance
Commercial vehicles have long been known for being utilitarian and practical, but offering not much else, especially where comfort is concerned.
And that's where this Citroën comes in to effectively sweep the competition. As its name suggests, the e-Dispatch benefits from an all-electric drivetrain. This means that the in-cabin experience is pin-drop silent even when it's on the move.
Speaking of cabins, the e-Dispatch's interior is very much like those found in a car. You get hardy but high-quality plastic panels, decently comfortable synthetic leather upholstery, and plenty of storage spaces at every turn.
All of its switchgear is logically laid out, and you even get a responsive 7.0-inch infotainment display at the centre. Connectivity-wise, there's also wired support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to liven up your driving entertainment experience!
Steering is also reassuringly light, which allows the driver to execute tight turns even around the narrowest of carparks. Visibility is also quite good, with sensors, a digital rear-view mirror and even a rear-mounted camera to aid you in parking manoeuvres.
In terms of performance, you get about 134 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque, which should be enough grunt for your business needs.
Cargo-wise, you are looking at about 5300 litres' worth of space, with a completely flat floor and dimensions of 2.4 m x 1.2 m x 1.2 m. Payload is rated at 1000 kilograms, which is quite generous!
The e-Dispatch supports both AC and DC charging – the latter topping out at 100 kW – and takes just over an hour to fully charge from 0%.
If you're looking for frills in a well-stocked commercial vehicle, the e-Dispatch is definitely one to look at and consider! Citroën has effectively proven that a van does not have to be spartan and made of bargain-basement materials, and that it's indeed possible to have your cake and eat it.
