Planning a road trip to Malaysia? If you're driving a Singapore-registered vehicle, be aware that a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) is mandatory since October 1, 2024. This applies to all foreign vehicles entering Peninsular Malaysia by land, including cars, vans, and trucks (except motorcycles).

The VEP application process is done online through the official JPJ VEP portal [Malaysia Vehicle Entry Permit]:

  • Register online with details about your vehicle, ownership, and intended driver(s).
  • Verify and confirm the registration information.
  • Upon approval, you can either self-collect your RFID tag in Johor (you'll receive an email on where, when, and how) or you can opt for home delivery to an address of your choice in Singapore or Malaysia.
  • There is a processing fee of RM10 for the tag.
  • Applicants opting for home delivery will also have to pay an additional RM30 service fee as well as postage of around RM15. Both prices are before sales and service tax.
Do I still need a VEP then?

Yes!

A VEP is a permit issued by the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) that allows Singaporean vehicles to enter the country. It's linked to a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag attached to your vehicle's windshield for electronic identification.

By obtaining the VEP and following proper procedures, you can avoid hassles and ensure a smooth entry into Malaysia for your road trip. Remember to plan ahead and apply for your VEP well in advance of your travel date.

There is a difference between TNG vep rfid and rfid vep. Tng can stick on both window or head lamp. While rfid vep only headlamp. This is stated on the introduction instruction when receiving the vep. Hope this help
