My Vehicle is currently a PHV, under my company name. I intend to convert it to a private/personal(P10/P11??) so that I can save on the insurance cost. For information purpose, my insurance and road tax is due 30th December, so I suppose the timeline is rather tight. A few questions: 1. As it is under my company's name, I will be transferring ownership to my own name so that the vehicle can be under P10/P11 scheme. Question: Does converting to a company car (N16??) save on insurance cost as well? If so, do I stick with my company's ownership or proceed with the transfer? 2. Given the tight timeline (30th December due), does it make sense to renew the current commercial PHV policy so that I can proceed to renew my insurance, or is it still do-able to get a personal/company car(depending on advice from no.1) policy? If I renew current commercial commercial PHV and get personal/company policy later in the new year, does it get pro-rate and refunded? 3. If there is a transfer of ownership (PHV to personal), does the NCD get renewed? For example, I am in my 3rd year of NCD for my PHV. Am I still eligible for NCD when I purchase a personal/company(again depending on no.1) policy? Appreciate your time and advice!!

Hi Huo Mao, thank you for your message.
1. You can switch to private usage under your company name or personal name if you’re the director or sole proprietor. Insurance premiums won’t differ much.
2. There’s still time to switch from PHV to private usage. If you’re no longer using the vehicle for private hire, we recommend making the change when renewing your insurance.
3. Your NCD can be transferred if you change to private usage, as long as you’re the director or sole proprietor (based on an ACRA document dated within the last three months).
