In the first COE bidding exercise of June 2025, Cat A closed at $96,999; Cat B closed at $113,000; Cat C closed at $62,000; Cat D closed at $9,000; while Cat E closed at $113,900.

Cat A (car up to 1600cc & 130bhp, and EV with up to 110kW) received 1,691 bids for 1,275 COEs and its premium dipped by $5,502. Category A COE closed at $96,999.

Cat B (car above 1600cc or 130bhp, and EV with more than 110kW) received 974 bids for 795 COEs and its premium dipped by $3,988. Category B COE closed at exactly $113,000.

Cat C (goods vehicle and bus) received 386 bids for 276 COEs and its premium decreased by $1,189. Category C COE closed at exactly $62,000.

Cat D (motorcycle) received 631 bids for 538 COEs and its premium increased by $293. Category D COE closed at exactly $9,000.

Lastly, Cat E (all vehicles except motorcycle) received 363 bids for 202 COEs and dipped by $4,110. Category E COE closed at $113,900.

Anthony Teo, managing director of Vantage Automotive which retails BYD and DENZA in Singapore, told Motorist: “I think the Cat A premium drop is due to the market correction, as well as the last COE bidding where Cat A dropped a bit, so people may think, wait and see whether it’ll drop further.”

Ng Choon Wee, commercial director of Komoco Motors which handles Hyundai, told Motorist: “Demand has been weak, especially with COE being in the 6-digit figure. Customers are staying by the side, citing more COEs will be released. Excess bids for Cat A were one-third lesser than in the last round, while Cat B was nearly 50 percent lesser. I don't expect COE premiums to plunge, as support is still strong. Cat A moved in the last 12 minutes and nearly 300 new bids were entered during the last 10 minutes.”

Nicholas Wong, chief executive officer of Honda authorised agent Kah Motor, told Motorist: “It was a combination of factors - clearing of back orders, cautious market, COE price too high.”

The general manager of a Leng Kee dealership told Motorist that “Market seemed rather slow in the past weeks, reflected in the drop today.”

Ernest Tan, deputy CEO of Vincar Group which represents Aion, GAC and Proton in Singapore, told Motorist: “I think it’s a market correction.”

Jason Lim, managing director of BMW authorised dealer Eurokars Auto, told Motorist: “In the last few rounds, the number of bids submitted had been dropping. Things are also a bit quieter because of school holidays.”

Corinne Chua, managing director of Volvo Car Singapore under Wearnes Automotive, looked ahead and said: “Category E might go up slightly in the next bidding because after that, it’s three weeks to the one in July.”
