The all-new Q6 e-tron is Audi’s latest tech-filled innovation, positioned as the future of Audi’s electrified mission, but does it live up to those expectations?

First seen at the Singapore Motorshow earlier this year, the all-new Q6 e-tron presents a new age for Audi, as it's the first car to come out from its factories with the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE).

This new platform will serve as the basis for all of Audi's premium EVs going forward, and if the Q6 e-tron is anything to go by, that’s not a bad thing at all.

The particular variant of Q6 e-tron we tried was the top-of-the-line quattro edition 1, the highest spec Q6 you can get at the moment in Singapore. It’s a fair bit dearer than the entry-level, rear-wheel drive Q6 advanced, but it does come with a lot more goodies.

For starters, you get the S line body kit on the exterior, which looks much sportier and more aggressive than the standard body styling. You also get larger 21-inch Audi Sport rims as opposed to 19-inchers on the advanced spec cars.

.The Q6 also comes standard with the Matrix LED headlights with customisable digital light signatures that we saw on the new A5, except on the Q6, the OLED taillights are also able to be customised to match the headlights.

The interior of the Q6 also hosts a variety of updates that enhance the quality of life for the driver and passengers. In the back, there’s ample legroom and headroom with the mostly flat floor providing lots of wiggle room for your feet too. There’s also a dedicated air-con control panel for the rear passengers as well as the toggles for the rear heated seats, a premium touch that’s good to see in a vehicle of the Q6’s price point.

Up front, though, is where the bulk of the improvements have come. Enter the Q6 and your eyes are immediately drawn to the curved 14.5-inch touchscreen that houses the MMI infotainment system. It’s flanked on the right by Audi’s 11.9-inch virtual cockpit digital gauge cluster and the left by the 10.9-inch passenger display, a first for Audi.

Arcing around the dashboard is another new feature dubbed the dynamic interaction light. This wraparound light strip contains 84 LEDs that function as a secondary indicator light and to visualise the battery level when the car is charging, in addition to being part of the ambient lighting system, of course.

Editors%2 Fimages%2 F1748593452216 Eos 3326 FotorThe sleek and well-proportioned side profile of the Q6 is a highlight.

Dynamically, the Q6 e-tron is far more impressive than I originally expected. Sure, with dual electric motors producing 285kW (388hp) and 580Nm (rear) and 275Nm (front) of torque, I expected rapidity, and the Q6 delivers with a 0-100km/h time of just 5.9 seconds.

The real shocker came when the roads got twisty. At 2.3 tons, the Q6 e-tron is hardly lithe, but it carves through the corners with an agility far belying its size. The air suspension that you get with the quattro variant works wonders to provide excellent road holding while keeping the car cornering flat.

Cruising at speed is also a non-issue with the Q6 e-tron, thanks in part to the effortless power on tap, but also in large part thanks to the incredible cabin isolation you get in this car. Wind and road noise are close to none, and it's easy to find yourself travelling faster than you expect. The well-insulated cabin also gives you the perfect environment to jam along to your tunes playing through the Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The last big update with the new PPE is the 800-volt architecture, which now allows for up to 270kW of DC fast charging at a compatible charger. This means that despite the large 100kWh battery fitted to the Q6 e-tron quattro, you’re able to juice back up from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes, a major quality of life improvement for potential owners.

So if you’re on the hunt for a new premium SUV, the Audi Q6 e-tron provides an excellent blend of build quality, modern features, impressive dynamics, and stylish looks. Check out our video review of the Q6 e-tron here to see more of Audi’s newest offering.
